Samarpan Foundation Website
User interface design, front-end development and Laravel backend implementation for a non-profit organisation content management system.
Samarpan Foundation is a charity with a global volunteer-based network that seeks to change universal consciousness by opening minds and hearts.
While working at IO Digital we were assigned to design and develop the new Samarpan Foundation website. As a UI Designer and Front-End Developer I normally just focus on the UI and front-end of a build but I was involved with more than that due to a shortage of resources.
- Year: 2015
- Agency: IO Digital
- Scope: UI Design & Development
- Tools: Photoshop, HTML, CSS, jQuery, Laravel
Initially, I was only assigned to come up with the design concept and styling of this web project, but as I drew closer to the end of my part it seemed we were running low on back end developer resources. I was brave enough to stick up my hand and say that "I'll give it a go!"
At that time I was busy learning vanilla php by going through a few online tutorials and seeing that I had to know some of the basics of php anyway I thought I would be able to succeed. We mainly worked with Laravel and luckily I could ask for assistance from any of my colleagues at any point in time.
There was a lot for me to learn in this process, but what an exciting learning experience that was! My first ever website built where I was involved in every aspect of the website. From designing the user interface, styling the front-end for mobile devices up to desktop screens as well as building the CMS on Laravel.
